Chaperones Rock!

Huge "SHOUT OUT" to Chaboya band parents! Susan Busing, Carl Kenny, Dixie Lopes, Hannah Ji, Lora Phillips, Sarala Raja, Neelima Singreddy, Annabelle Thomas, Karen Yoshioka, and more whom I most certainly have neglected (please forgive me), you rock! From taking band students to EESD elementary schools for our band day visits, BTS help, Chaperoning and supporting our kids at "Day in the Park," and Tuxedo shirt measurements. You have given our bands a terrific start to the school year! Your support is appreciated more than you know. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Band Attitude

Attitude is everything! The greatest single factor to determine the success of an individual or organization is attitude! The kind of person you are is an individual choice, and how you feel about something is one of the few actual independent choices you have in life. Having a positive attitude makes an artistic performance inevitable and is the difference between a winning organization and a mediocre group. The band can do so much for you. Make the most of it in every rehearsal and performance!

Band Member Duties

  • Be on time to all rehearsals and performances. Early is on time and on time is late.
  • When the director or staff member steps on the podium or asks for your attention, all taking should cease.
  • Come to rehearsal with a good attitude.
  • No horsing around with your instrument.
  • Make a real effort to improve on a daily basis, establish a good practice routine.
  • At the end of rehearsal put all materials in their proper place.
  • Maintain a strong academic standing in all course work (seek help if you are struggling in a tough subject).
  • Become responsible for and assume responsibility for your own actions. Admit when you are wrong.
  • Have proper respect for yourself, your classmates, and those in authority.
  • Read and play music with insight, have musical expectations.

Coming Soon: Music Department Fundraiser

Community Discount Card Fundraiser

All Chaboya Music classes will participate in a fundraiser for instruments, equipment, sheet music, buses for field trips and other enrichment activities. The music goal this year is to raise $4,000.00 to purchase a bassoon and replace out-dated instruments.

What we are selling: Community Discount Cards

Cost of Card: $10.00 each

Profit per card: $5.00 each

Each student is encouraged to sell 3 cards each (minimum).

Students will be given 3 cards the first day,

Friday, November 18, 2016

The remaining cards will be distributed upon request. If a student would like to sell more, they will be given the amount they would like if their parent sends a written request for that amount (simply initial anywhere on this form with the number of cards requested). If you do not wish for your child to participate please make a note of it on this form and return the flyer with your child before cards are distributed. Otherwise it is assumed that the student will make every effort to sell all 3 of his/her cards.

We will have 2 collection dates:

November 30 and December 7

Collections will also be taken anytime the students bring in proceeds.

Remember these cards make terrific gifts and can be used as gift attachments!
